Hello all!
Welcome to 2020! A new year and a new decade!
This is a great time of year to reflect, learn and plan for the future. I always get a bit carried away and list way too many things I want to do and get disappointed on New Years eve when I realise I haven’t done any of those things and end up recycling the list year after year. But this year is different I want to focus on 1 or 2 goals and really work on them.
I feel it's important to look back to able to move forward so here are a few things I’m proud of in 2019.
· First Zumba class
I have taught classes for years but have never been more nervous than doing this class. I passed my course a year ago but have been procrastinating on doing classes because I found myself feeling afraid. I decided to push pass the fear and managed to get through my first class.
· Getting married
I have been with my partner for almost 10 years and we have 2 children together. We always knew we wanted to get married but there was always something why we couldn’t do it, not to mention the massive cost of it all. Finally we decided that it’s now or never. If we wait, the perfect time would never come. So we did it and it was the most beautiful day and I’m so happy we all can finally be the Gonzalez-Cooke Family.
· Taking my university cheer team to competition
Coaching a university team can be very challenging. Students aren’t the most reliable and committed people in the world so practising a routine where they don’t show up to training, drop out last minute and having to constantly make changes because of this, is very stressful. But by some miracle we managed to pull it together and compete when in previous years it wasn’t even possible.
· Disney’s Live Action Aladdin
I was fortunate to do some stunt work on the Aladdin movie. The opportunity came out of nowhere. I saw a post on one of the cheerleading Facebook groups looking for cheerleaders who can stunt. Not knowing what it was exactly for I decided to apply thinking that I would never get it. It wasn’t until I was chosen that I found out that it was for Disney’s Aladdin! Being on set made me realise what next career step I wanted to take. More on that soon.
So moving on to 2020 I want to work on these 2 things this year:
1. Grow Zumba community
2. Training for new career move
Enough about me. What do you want your 2020 to look like?
Writing it down, telling someone about it, putting it out there into the universe will give you the push you might need to go ahead and do it!
I'd love you to share in the comments
